About Me

I wanted to introduce my blog as a place where I can just dump my thoughts about my career, my students, my life as a married Millennial, and my personal journey and realizations from my experience with breast cancer.

I have discovered (through lots of trial and error) that I am one of those people “with a lot of feelings.” I have always been a highly sensitive and emotional person. I was the kid who cried when someone ELSE scraped their knee in elementary school. I feel that this has worked towards making me the kind of person who I am today. I am a teacher. I care so deeply for my students, and I truly want the best for them.

I strive to be a compassionate mentor and a leader that my students can look up to. It warms my heart every time I see a student’s face light up because they have finally understood a concept that was previously difficult for them to grasp. My best teaching days are when a student comes up to me and says, “Mrs. Garrett, I think I want to be a drama teacher when I grow up,” or “I want to major in Theatre!” Granted, this doesn’t happen every day, but those are the best days!

Hopefully, this will be the first of many new blog posts to come. I am going to try to post at least 2-3 times per week.

Please let me know what you think or give suggestions as to what could be improved.

  1. Hi Christina! You’re blogging now? So am I! I have to maintain a blog about fine arts events in Lakeland for my Honors class this semester. This sounds really good so far. I can’t say I have any suggestions for improvement 🙂
